* Swimming is a unique physical activity that fosters physical development, hardiness and good health. It is particularly beneficial for children and adolescents as it helps the circulatory and respiratory systems to develop strongly, which supports the child’s growth process and reinforces skeletal and motor development.
Systematic engagement in swimming and special gymnastic activities improves such important physical qualities such as endurance, strength, speed, joint flexibility and coordination. The exercises that are practiced on land and in the water not only reinforce the musculature of the arms and legs, but also those of the trunk, which is particularly good for developing good posture among children and teens. At the same time, symmetrical movement with the trunk in a horizontal orientation takes pressure off the spine, making swimming an excellent correctional exercise by eliminating such postural defects as slouching, swayback and various curvatures of the spine.
The continuous work of the legs at a rapid pace under constant pressure from the water while the body is in a pressure-free position trains the muscles and joints of the ankle and helps to both form and strengthen the child’s growing foot.
Swimming is an aerobic exercise that stimulates the production of natural growth hormones called somatotropins in the blood of children and adolescents as much as 10 to 20 times. This, in turn, helps the body gain length by increasing muscle mass and the mass of the heart and lungs.
Help your child enjoy these wonderful benefits by enrolling her in our synchronized swimming classes today.
