Competition for Chamber Orchestras

In 2009, Kyiv’s historic five-star Premier Palace Hotel celebrates its 100th anniversary. As part of the Hotel’s year-long celebrations, there was conducted a nationwide Competition for Chamber Orchestras.
Thanks to the efforts of the National Philharmonic of Ukraine and the Premier Palace Hotel, our country’s chamber orchestras were able to show the world their performances of masterpieces of the art of chamber music. Ukraine’s top professional chamber orchestras were represented at this competition.
Judging them was an international jury led by well-known conductor and merited arts professional of both Ukraine and Russia, Anton Sharoyev. The other members of the jury included: world-famous Swiss conductor Rainer Held; well-known composer and conductor Myroslav Skoryk, HU, National Artist and Shevchenko Laureate; and seminal composer Yevhen Stankovych, National Artist and Shevchenko Laureate.
The competition has taken place May 11–14, 2009. The competition performances (at Sofiyivskiy Grand Hall, Premier Palace Hotel) were open to guests of the Hotel, the press, and music critics.
